Humayun Ahmed was a popular Bangladeshi author, filmmaker,
screenwriter, and dramatist. His very first novel ‘Nondito Noroke’ (In Blissful
Hell) published in 1972 reached him to the pick of his fame. And this novel
considers one of his master mind creations among all of his works. In his life
span he wrote more than 200 fiction and non-fiction books which still tag as bestselling
title in Bangladesh. Renowned Pakistani newspaper Dawn posturize him as the
cultural legend of Bangladesh. Times of India wrote Humayun was a custodian of the Bangladeshi literary culture
whose contribution single-handedly shifted the capital of Bengali literature
from Kolkata to Dhaka without any war or revolution. Kolkata based famous writer Sunil Gangopadhay
referred him as the most gorgeous and popular writer in the century of Bengali
language. He mentions Humayun was even more popular than Sarat Chandra
Chattopadhay. Humayun’s magical writing style catch a reader attention from the
first page to finishing of his books. For this reason during the 1990s and
2000s at the Ekushey Book Fair Humayun’s books have been in the top selling
position.
